15 Jan 2010 - Update from NAMM

Wowee, I'm currently in sunny California blasting away at the NAMM Show! It's tons of fun to be demoing Toontrack's fantastic e-drum software and meeting lots of music fanatics here in Anaheim. If you happen to be in the area, stop by the Convention Center at booth 2532 in Hall D and you may just see the incredible David "Fingers" Haynes and myself tearing it up!

As if perfect timing was a given, Toontrack released the first volume of my very own Library of the Extreme MIDI pack just a week ago. For those of you in need of natural sounding blastbeats and fills, look no further: the Library has everything you ever dreamed of and more, with over 1,000 individually recorded files! I labored hard on this baby and I hope it'll be a great tool for all you metal maniacs out there!

On the band front, next week kicks off the drum tracking for album number 8 by Soilwork, with Peter Wichers and Jens Bogren at the helm. The new songs turned out fantastic in my opinion, a nice mix of old and new with lots of great sounds and ideas! Expect to hear a lot more about Soilwork in the coming months!

Also, deadly goremongers Aborted's extremely limited but limitlessly extreme Coronary Reconstruction EP has officially seen the light of day. I couldn't be more pleased with guitar meister James Murphy's fantastic mix-and-mastering job! Witness the relentless carnage for yourself by checking out 2 tracks on the Aborted MySpace page, then hurry and get your copy before they run out...

And finally, for those of you residing in the Cleveland area, make sure to stop by my wife Hannah Verbeuren's upcoming BoldFigures Art Show at the WallEye Gallery. Hannah's selection includes a few unique shots of Soilwork members among a lot of other truly fantastic work, so don't miss out on this! The opening is this Friday January 22nd from 6 to 11pm. All relevant info can be found on Hannah's blog.

More news coming soon, including another European drum clinic tour, recording sessions and all that fun stuff... Cheers!

07 Dec 2009 - ABORTED, SOILWORK, Toontrack and more!

Sorry folks, once again this news posting comes way late... But you'd rather hear me blast than babble, right? Well, blasting I've been doing- LIKE MAD!!

First off, I'm very happy and proud to rejoin forces with my good friends in ABORTED! We're currently putting the finishing touches to a brand spanking new EP straight in the vein of the classic Goremageddon. It's called Coronary Reconstruction, it's more brutal than you, and it WILL drill your heart to a bloody mush! I'm super excited for this release, which is due out around the end of the year... More details soon.

Next up, after collaborating on the amazing Metal Foundry drum samples collection, I've been actively working on a new extreme project for Toontrack! This one is guaranteed to make the musicians among you grin from ear to ear and beyond! It'll be unveiled very soon, so keep checking back...

Now a quick word about SOILWORK: the songwriting for album #8 is going strong! Peter and Sylvain have put together a bunch of truly inspired tunes with lots of insane riffing going on... And there's more on the way, including some of my own compositions. I really can't wait to start recording this one next January!

As if all this wasn't enough, I've been recording drums for the new PHAZE I album, working on my DVD- unfortunately the shooting is delayed until sometime next year- and preparing two more as-yet-to-be-revealed recordings. Told you I'd been blasting like mad!!

That's about it for now. I'd like to end this with a huge THANK YOU to all of you who attended my drum clinics in France and Belgium last September. It was a blast performing solo and alongside the insanely talented PETE LOCKETT, and a pleasure meeting you all! The good news is: looks like there may be more clinics coming up shortly... You know where to come looking...

PS: Check out my new VIDEO INTERVIEW courtesy of MEINL Cymbals!
It includes live footage from the September clinics and soundcheck.

01 Sep 2009 - TAMA Drum Clinics in Belgium and France

Yes y'all, that's right, time to bust out a couple o' them good ole' chops for the drummers and drum-heads among you! The great folks at TAMA are putting me on the road and I sure as hell like it!! Anyways, here's the deal:

* First off, Key Music in St Niklaas, Belgium will host a clinic with yours truly as well as world-renowned multi-percussionist PETE LOCKETT (check out his amazing videos!)

* Then it's off to my long-time place of study and teaching, the Music Academy International in Nancy, France for a VERY LOUD clinic and masterclass...

* And finally, the 30th Anniversary of Paris' very own Bag' Show will be mercilessly drowned in eternal blastbeats.

It's all taking place this month and if you happen to live nearby, I trust you'll come and feel the noise! All details are in the shows section.

More news coming shortly... Stay cyber-tuned! Cheers!
